Cameron Sykes (23) was selected to represent Richmondshire Scouts at the King’s Coronation on Saturday 6th May. Attending as part of North Yorkshire Scouts, Cameron said he is very honoured to have been chosen.
Cameron began his Scouting journey as a Beaver with 1st Catterick Garrison and worked his way through to becoming a Scout and Explorer Leader.
Lindsay Sykes, the District Commissioner of Richmondshire, said “As the DC of Richmondshire District, I’m incredibly proud that Cameron was selected and as his mother, I really couldn’t be prouder”. Cameron has loved every minute he’s spent in Scouting and I’m glad he’ll have the Coronation to remember forever”
Scouting is run mainly by volunteers and the Big Help Out, as part of the celebration for HM The King’s Coronation, was to attract more people to help their local communities. Scout groups around the country organised events and in Richmondshire young people from Richmond Group were out litter picking around the town.
If you would like to help Scouting, come and volunteer with us and give more young people skills for life.
