District Beaver Handicraft Competition

17 October 2018

Teams of young people battled it out in the District Beaver Handicraft Competition with space as the theme. This was chosen because Major Tim Peake is one of our scout ambassadors and next year it is 50 years since the first manned moon landing so hopefully it will inspire interest in space.

The competition saw over 60 boys and girls between the ages of 6-8 complete four activity all based on space. The challenges were to : to draw an alien with pencils, make a 3-D rocket out of card, create a spaceship from half a paper plate and design a planet by icing a biscuit.

Beaver groups from: Barton, Catterick Garrison, Catterick St. Anne’s, Coburn and Richmond took part in the challenge.

The overall winners were Coburn Beavers who were presented with a trophy which they keep for the year.

Well done to all who took part – Think we have some prospective NASA scientist!
